While searching through the old pattern box, I came across this lovely vintage pattern dated 1958. I am thinking this might make a perfectly sweet summer dress. I may need to adjust the amount of gathering, especially at the back bodice, but I'm kind of in love with it. What do you think?

I also came across this one, dated 1973.

I'm not in love with the ruffles around the neckline but that is super easy to eliminate. Perhaps a shorter length and adding a short sleeve might work? What caught my eye, to be honest, was the french dart. I've been thinking a lot about how to use french darts to create shape in an easy fitting dress. Those shift dresses that so many of you can carry off so well just don't work on me. I've been thinking this may be a nice way to add some shape while keeping the fit easy and loose. An easy fitting, shapely, dress on a hot summer day-what could be more comfortable and stylish?
Hmmm, a little more thought may be in order.
