In Fitting Fashion

  • Your Opinion Matters and I Want to Hear It

Are you guys willing to offer you opinion?  I really want to hear what you think about this.  Yes, really.

Lately, I am obsessed with shift dresses.

I think this can be blamed on Mad Men.  I am an avid fan of the show and can't help but be influenced by it so I've been turning to the late 1960's for inspiration for the next pattern release.  There is something easy and modern about a shift dress but, if not done exactly right, they can seem a bit old fashioned, so I'm torn.  I want to spend my time making patterns that YOU WANT and that I LOVE.

As a result, I am opening the floor to you.

This past weekend, I made this dress-pattern and all:

Truth be told, I love it!  It's a perfect summer wedding guest dress in my opinion.  Dressy and comfortable-make two visits to the buffet and dance the night away!  I feel like it is quite versatile with the ability to be worn tied at the waist like a "fit and flare", or loose and easy for the true look of a shift dress.  It pulls on over your head and is easy fitting enough to keep you cool on an warm summer night.

This was the first cut of this style so it needs a bit of tweaking style-wise but the fit is absolutely perfect-which I love of course.  I am also imagining this in a solid crepe or pique type fabric with a contrast trim at the neck and sleeve as well as a wide contrast band at the hem-White with Black trim-so clean and crisp.  (In my mind it would look truly awesome on a patio while sipping martinis!)

It may be that I love this dress, but it matters more to me that you love this dress, so tell me what you think.  I really want to know.  What have you been looking for that you just can find?  If you tell me, you just might find it here.
