Hi! Yes, it has been a while since the last post but I've had a few things going on around here.
I just finished doing a short term contract with my previous employer - Kensie. It was really great to see my past coworkers and get a peak on what they are working on for next year. Getting a glimpse back into the fashion production side of things reminded me of how important team work is to the whole system. Nothing would be accomplished without input from all departments-design, tech design, production-fashion is the sum many parts.

I've also been working on the remainder of the Vogue 8664 fitting posts and trying to develop the perfect new dress pattern. Although nothing is ready to be posted or sold yet, I wanted to send out a "Thank You" to Jo, Kath, Kat, and Molly who gave their feedback on the lace shift dress. I loved getting your input. I often miss the collaborative nature of working on a team - you were my team and I now have a revised plan for the new dress pattern. Thank you! As compensation for your valued input I am giving the four of you a free download for the Cool Cowl Tank! Watch for it in your email, I really hope you enjoy the pattern. For everyone else, I will have another opportunity for a free pattern download coming up soon- and I promise, I will tell you about it first.
Today I FINALLY received "The Complete Photo Guide to Perfect Fitting" by Sarah Veblen. I will be doing a full review of the book at some point but at first glance, it looks pretty promising. The photos are very clear and it appears to use the same fitting methods I have become used to over the years.

I also wanted to tell you that my husband and I will be moving to Vancouver Island at the end of the month and that it's the real reason I have been completely distracted from the blog. I am really excited and can't wait to make the move and get settled in.

Needless to say, I should be packing right now but I felt the need to leave a message as to the reason for a short absence from posting any new content for a while. In fact I need to pack up the sewing room to prevent "packing procrastination". I will still be available if you need me and I'll be watching the website so feel free to email, comment, and purchase at will.
In the mean time, if you feel the need for a fitting fix, hop over to the The Sewing Space. Lena is currently doing a series of posts on fitting the basic bodice block. I know many of you have been wanting to make up your own personal block so why not get some help on it? I would love to see your fitting photos!
